Weston Wood Solution’s Commitment to ESG

Our Commitment

At Weston Wood Solutions (WWS), integrity is at the core of how we design, source, and deliver solutions. As a trusted provider in the millwork industry, we recognize our responsibility to operate with care for our people, our customers, and the environment we share.

Beginning in January 2024, WWS has advanced many initiatives at our two Ontario locations (Brampton and Sault Ste Marie) that reinforce our commitment to sustainable and responsible operations.

Highlights include:

  • Upgrading facilities with LED lighting to improve energy efficiency
  • Electrifying our forklifts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Expanding recycling capabilities at our Canadian sites to reduce waste
  • Implementing processes that support a circular economy by collecting waste sawdust and reintegrating in into the production of new materials
  • Investing in a 25-acre Smart Forest to plant 25,000 trees through Canada’s Forest Trust
  • Supporting Shelter Movers, an agency dedicated to moving parents and children from high-risk domestic situations into safe shelters

Beyond these initiatives, in 2025 WWS strengthened our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) foundation by establishing an ESG framework. We retained a consultant who conducted a double materiality assessment informed by internal and external stakeholder engagement and industry bench-marking to identify four strategic pillars. Each pillar is supported by key focus areas that will help us stay accountable and focused on what matters most.

Our Strategic Pillars

  • Environmental Stewardship

WWS is committed to reducing our environmental impact across all stages of our operations. From sourcing wood and other materials responsibly to optimizing our manufacturing processes, we will use resources efficiently and reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Our approach goes beyond meeting regulatory requirements; we seek to align with recognized certifications and industry best practices. Innovation, continuous improvement, and long-term thinking will be central to how we meet our environmental goals.

    Key focus areas:

  • Labour Rights and Responsibility

Our people are the foundation of our success. We will continue to invest in employee training, health and safety, and fair and competency-based hiring practices. We will ensure a workplace where craftsmanship remains a source of pride and opportunity, and in collaboration with our partners and suppliers, we will uphold fair labour practices and contribute positively to the communities where we live and work.

    Key focus areas:

  • Product Excellence

Delivering high-quality, reliable products is central to who we are. We take pride in our craftsmanship and are committed to the safety, durability, and performance of every product we bring to market. As global expectations around sustainability continue to evolve, we will integrate these principles across our value chain, from material selection to product delivery. We will also explore ways to extend product life cycles and reduce waste.

    Key focus areas:

    • Product Quality
    • Product Safety
  • Governance and Integrity

We are committed to the highest standards of ethics, accountability, and transparency in alignment with our C.O.R.E. (Care, Ownership, Respect, Excellence) values. We take a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, risk management, and upholding compliance to support long-term value creation.

Our ESG efforts are overseen by a cross-functional team and are reviewed by senior leadership to ensure alignment with our business strategy and a holistic approach to risk management.

    Key focus areas:

    • Regulatory Compliance
    • Management of Supply Chain Risks

Looking Ahead

Our ESG commitments are integral to our operations and future strategy. By prioritizing responsible actions today, we lay the groundwork for a sustainable tomorrow. Through stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement, and transparent reporting, Weston Wood Solutions remains steadfast in creating long-term positive impacts for our communities, industry, and the environment.

Weston Woods Solutions is thrilled to announce our latest eco-friendly initiative, the establishment of a 25-acre Smart ForestTM in Canada. Given the symbiotic nature of our business to wood-based products, it was a simple decision to invest in a project dedicated to the revitalization and preservation of forests.

This project is led by Canada’s Forest Trust Corporation, a Canadian social enterprise. With this collaboration, WWS will be planting, preserving, and protecting 25,000 trees in a Canadian Smart ForestTM. This commitment amplifies our ongoing environmental and sustainability efforts and solidifies our pledge to conduct our operations with less net carbon impact.

Our Smart ForestTM Stewardship is not a carbon-trading initiative; it’s our way of making a positive, enduring contribution to our planet’s health.
